Mga Mata ni Angelita was written by Ricardo Feliciano and became a number one hit radio drama from 1974 to 1978. It was made into a film by Larry Santiago Productions and catapulted the late Julie Vega into fame.
The film was a phenomenal hit when it premiered in 1978, mainly because of its big name stars such as Ramon Revilla, Helen Gamboa, Dolphy, Vilma Santos, Nora Aunor, the late Fernando Poe Jr., Christopher De Leon, Alma Moreno, Rez Cortez, Paquito Diaz, and Eddie Rodriguez, to name a few.

Dra. Baby Holmes (Ai-Ai Delas Alas) is a veterinarian who left her boyfriend of 15 years after she discovered he has been deceiving her. Realizing that her biological clock is ticking fast, she desperately searches for the perfect guy who will marry her. Roberto “Boy” Reyes (Robin Padilla) is a single fireman with a son born out of wedlock. His girlfriend, the child’s mother, left him for another man. Generous to a fault, Boy is considered a small town hero ever since he saved a child from drowning. Now, every time someone needs help, the entire neighborhood runs to him.

By chance, Baby saves Boy’s life and to show his gratitude, he offers her anything in return. She then asks Boy to sire her a child. Boy thinks she’s just joking but Baby is dead serious. And will Baby ultimately accept that someone as perfect as Boy can actually fall in love with her?

Fernando Poe Jr. stars as Carding Villamar, a city professional who returns to their hometown of Evangelista after learning of his brother's untimely demise. As a series of events unfod, he soon discovers that his brother didn't succumb to a heart attachk as he was made to believe. He was shot in cold blood for refusing to sell his land to a powerful congressman. With a town muted and crippled by fear, the congressman's henchmen move unhampered to silence Carding and his brother's orphaned family as well. Big mistake. Armed with only a crusty riffle and a whole ton of rage.
Carding sets out to right the wrong and exact vengeance for the murder of his brother. That is, if he survives the hot pursuits of bounty hunters, the militia and the police who are all in the congressman's payroll.

Half-sister Aileen ( Judy Ann Santos ) and Romina ( Jolina Magdangal ), along with first cousins Ruth ( Rhian Ramos ) and Sandra ( Iza Calzado ), reunite in Camiguin to bury their grandmother. The Quija board is burned by accident before they are able to finish the ritual, trapping a murderous entity around them.
As they begin to realize the terror that they have brought upon themselves, Aileen and Romina's hostile relationship becomes even more strained, while Lucy's sanity brings a heavy burden on Sandra, and Ruth's boyfriend, Gino ( JC de Vera ), is unknowingly pulled into the danger and horror that await all of them. Confronted by emminent death, the girls have nowhere to go unless they can identity the spirit and find out where it is buried. It is only by leading the spirit to its burial ground that they will able to release it from Quija board and survive its fatal hauntings.
